THE HPSSA
BOAT CLUB
The Boat Club (a subsidiary club of HPSSA) currently has one river boat, two canoes, four kayaks and four paddle baoards for use by HPSSA members and their accompanied guests only.
Membership
To use club boats you need to be a member of the Howbery Park Sports and Social Association (HPSSA).

We have all the necessary equipment required for use of the canoes and kayaks including: paddles, buoyancy aids, spray decks and a trolley for transporting and launching the open canoes.

There are three, 3-person, 16ft canoes, ideal for touring on the river or further afield with family or friends. One of them is older than the others, but in good working order!

We also have two 14ft touring kayaks with drop down skegs, comfy seats and footrests etc. There are also 2 dry storage portholes for carrying camping gear or clothing / picnics.

Club Boats
Howbery Spark
Howbery Spark is a day boat that is 6.70 metres in length, has a beam of 2.50 metres and is powered by an electric inboard engine. There is a charging point at the HR Wallingford Boat House mooring. A full charge allows for approximately 6 hours of cruising. It is be possible to use the boat for more than a day, to do this you will need to find a charging point and arrange to book a mooring with the lock keeper in advance. A list of charging points, available on the Thames, is available from see http://www.electric-boat-association.org.uk/charging.htm. The boat can accommodate 6 to 8 people (up to a maximum of 10 people); it has a small galley, sink, some consumables and some basic mugs, plates, cutlery.
